Neval Chatelal Biography: Chutney Music

Neval Chatelal, one of the most versatile and talented singer of Trinidad and Tobago grew up in Chase village, which is situated in central Trinidad. He attended Presentation College in Chaguanas before he ventured into studying instrumentation at UTT. Chatelal is known for his versatility in various genres of music and Indian classical music is his favorite genre of music.

Neval Chatelal’s Height is approximately 5ft 1 inch or 153cm. He was born on February 28th 198? to Tara Chatelal (deceased).

However he started off in western classical music and then later on he ventured into Indian classical music, between the ages of 18 and 19 years. He says that Indian classical music has a lot of soul. It was here that he discovered the beauty of Indian classical music and eventually fell in love with it. In an interview with readyrose.com Neval said that his love for singing started of when he was at primary school,he used to make rhythms on his desk by tapping on it, which used to irritate the other students.

In 2010 Neval was at the spotlight when emerged as the winner of Digicel rising Stars He made it only to the 1st round,then he was called back by the judges as a wild card pick,eventually he made it to the finals and became the winner. It was a proud moment for him,he said in an interview with readyrose.com that he couldn’t believe it when they announced his name.

It was here that Neval decided to leave his job at the airline to have a full-time career in music. At first his family didn’t support him. They thought it was to risky,but he never regretted making that decision.

He was named a National Patriotism champion by the Ministry of National Diversity and Social Integration (2013)

In the commemoration of T&T’s 50th anniversary,Neval wrote a song entitled ‘Wonder of This World (T&T). He did a collaboration with Machel Montano on this track. In an interview with readyrose.com he said that KI Persad gave him a lot of opportunities with regard to exposure. Neval has represented his country internationally and did openings for world-renowned acts and singers,one including the famous Anup Jalota.

Neval performed for China’s President,Xi Jinping during his visit for T&T’s. He performed for the Earl and Countess of Wessex during their visit to T&T has been selected to perform at many International conferences hosted by T&T.

Neval continues to share his talents in support of worthy causes through partnerships with various charities and organisations. In an interview with readyrose.com,he said that ‘music speaks for itself and that he considers himself as a vessel that channels that music and he tries not to compromise it. At this moment Neval continues to showcase his music,releasing music and writing songs and says that one shouldn’t be afraid to take risks’. However as you can see he did take the risk and now he is one of the most successful singer,performer,entertainer and the list goes on.
