I was able to defend and retain the title of Chutney Soca Monarch 2021. The last year (2020) was one of the most difficult years for the artform. Southex and George Singh, however, decided to keep the culture alive, and host Chutney Soca Monarch 2021 (CSM26) when we truly needed it the most. It was a most valiant effort on the part of the promoters and the artistes who participated in both the semifinal and final of CSM26.

My song entitled “Drink Together” was written in a time when not just our country, but the world at large, faced a pandemic. This pandemic resulted in loss of loved ones, loss of jobs, closure of businesses, and a general dissipation of the artform. The despair and hopelessness I saw whilst doing charity was heartbreaking. I heard the cries of the nation and it resonated in this song.

I would like to first say thank you to George Singh, his wife Pria, Kavir and Samir Singh of Southex for truly keeping the culture alive. The effort was greater this year and the production was fabulous. Hats off and kudos to you and your team.

I am privileged to be surrounded by amazing people and amazing minds.

I would like to thank my Creative Producer – Sheldon Stephen for his valuable role in creating and managing my production.

I would like to thank my Creative Director Stevie Jones, of ProjectGio Events for his creative management of my production.

I would like to thank my music producers — Stemz Production (Montreal, Canada), Big Rich the Pungalunks (Vocals and Mixing), Prince Bhajman (editing of vocals) and of course ShotmasterJ for mastering the winning song. Many thanks to Kelvin Kissoon who worked together with me to write the song “Drink Together”.

I would like to thank my manager, Natasha and my team – TeamGI – Darian Abhiram, Rohan Ramlochan, Elijah Ramsaroop, Vikaash Ramcharitar, Arnold Persad – you guys are nothing short of amazing. Your hard work and dedication to our team’s success makes us one of the strongest and most feared units in the industry. Kudos to you guys.

To my most brilliant dance group – Brian Mangaroo and the Khalnayak Dance Academy – I cannot describe how much I am amazed at your talent, energy and creativity. You are the most talented group of dancers in our industry and I salute you!

I can safely say, my musical team – Denzil Tidd, Nicholas Thomas and Joel Wiggins – are masters in their own right. The support received from Kishore Wizzy Ramdath and the Avatar Band was amazing. Thank you to you guys.

Thank you to Ramon Alexis, Production Cast & Crew, Leslie Nathaniel and all of the staff at SAPA for their willingness to help, Andre Cherrie, Jazz Aziz, and everyone else who contributed to the execution of my performance on stage at CSM26.

To my most amazing designer – Ecliff Elie – for the second year – I have worn your clothing and walked away as a champion. This year, you designed and perfected an outfit that was astounding! Thank you!

To all media houses, DJ’s, announcers – thank you for your continued support of my brand.

To my brand – Hennessy Trinidad and Tobago – thank you for your unfailing support. Your commitment to the brand GI is appreciated.

To my friends who supported me – Samantha Singh, Dr. Roodal Moonilal, Kurt Ramlal and the Dindial Family – a gracious and heartfelt thank you!

To all the artistes who competed – the virtue lies in the struggle. I wish to congratulate everyone, especially the international artistes, whose effort to perform may have been a bit more difficult than us. Congrats to Nisha Ramsook in snatching the title of Queen of Chutney Soca.

I would like to thank my family for their love and support.

And last but definitely not least – my friends and supporters – without you – I am nothing. Your love for my music is the reason I am the Chutney Soca Monarch King. A Heartfelt thank you!

In closing, listen to the words of my song and live by it everyday……

Thank you
