Legendary Classical Singer Rampersad Ramkhelawan, Father Of Kries Ramkhelawan born 1934 passed away on Monday 24th August 2020.

We of the National Council of Indian Culture are deeply saddened with the news of the passing of one of the stalwarts of Baithak Gana in Suriname Ustaad Rampersad Ramkhelawan.
I personally have known Dada for more than two decades. A great human being who spent countless years imparting his wealth of knowledge to the young artistes of Suriname, Holland the Americas and the wider Caribbean.
We were privileged in Trinidad to have had him performed on many a stage including our flagship event Divali Nagar.
His passing has left a void in the cultural landscape that might be difficult to fill.
I, on behalf of the President Dr Deokinanan Sharma, and the Board of Directors offer deepest sympathies to the members of the bereaved family.
To my younger brother Shri Kries Ramkhelawan Ji you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time of bereavement.
