Rikki Jai was born on 17.10.64. His parents names are Pahalad and Elista Jaimingal. His siblings are Raymond,Mindea,Nimatee,Dhanraj and Angeline.He attended St.Paul’s Anglican,Naparima College,St.Steven College and Queens College New Yorke.Rikki has dark/brown eyes,5’6″ in height and is happily married to Shelly Ann Jaimungal.He is also the father of two handsome boys Aashish and Vaashish and one beautiful girl Aavisha.
BACKGROUND
Rikki Jai started singing in 1986 with an Indian Orchestra called Naya Andaz and in 1989 joined another Indian Orchestra named Triveni and was a member of that band for two years where he did cover versions of Bollywood songs,Chutney,Calypso and Reggae.
In 1989 Rikki recorded his first calypso single “Sumintra” and has been recording songs every year ever since,to coincide with the annual Carnival that’s celebrated in Trinidad and Tobago. Unfortunately in 1990 he left the Triveni Band to pursue a solo career. Over the last sixteen years he has been touring in many parts of the USA,Canada,Europe,China and the Caribbean.
In 1997 Rikki was privledged to travell to India as part of a Cultural Delegation of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for India’s Independence Celebrations. Then for the second time in 2004 he was invited to tour India to specifically perform at the Pravasi Bharatiya Conference in Delhi i recognition for his work in the field of Indian music outside of India.He then toured other cities over over a three week period.
In 2006 Rikki Jai accompanied The Trinidad and Tobago Football team- “The Soca Worriors” to Germany to be part of rhe cultural troupe for the football World Cup games.
