A true child of the tropical,warm and welcoming island of trinidad and tobago which she calls home.She is Kavita Ramkissoon.As if destined for the spotlight. She was blessed to be born into a musical family on September 29th,1983. Her musical voice and and stage presence was nurtured by her father,Siew Ramkissoon- a top top bhajan and classical singer. At a young age she was able to develop her signature panache,which led her to compete in several top local competitions- Best village,Independence Classical Singing,Mastana Bahar and Chutney Soca Monarch and Chutney Soca Monarch.She was able to excel in these competitions and so her talent was recognised by many local superstars.The budding artiste began to bloom and her star started to shine.

The name Kavita translates into POEM! How fitting, as she is a poet by heart and  she Write most of her songs. She is a true free spirit, with a strong personality who values fitness and a healthy lifestyle. Her strong willed and ‘go-getter’ attitude resonates in everything that she does. Though strong willed and confident. She is quite sensitive,emotional,sociable and naturally charming. Trustworthy and naturally talented are how many describes her.

Highly motivated,industrious,authoritarian and ambitious are just a few synonyms which accompany her name. Witty and critical are others. A water baby at heart, she enjoys the outdoors. This adventurous bone may also lead her to try some extreme sports- such as parasailing,water sking and mountain boarding. In spite of it all,travelling and performing are her true call.

As time passed by she continued to be schooled by her dad and began to blossom into the ‘Chutney Empress’. It was there she began to expand her repertoire,incorporating all genres of music. This dynamism drew the attention of several of high profile cross-over bands- including the BMRZ Empire,where she became its main female frontline act.

After three years with the band. She felt it was time to breakout as a solo artiste and develop her career. The first lonely step into the deep waters of the music industry was scary. But she never looked back!  She says-” One of the best decisions she ever made. Nothing worth having comes without taking risks”.
